About Yuru
Nice to meet you
I'm Kiwamu, and I run Relaxation Salon Yuru (癒巡-ゆる-).
I run a small relaxation salon based in Takatsuki, Osaka and Suginami, Tokyo.
Here, I'd like to share a little about how I came to do this work, and what I value at Yuru.
Why I started this work
When I was working as an office employee, there was a time when my health broke down badly.
In my case, my body showed symptoms before my mind gave out.
I kept telling myself I could still keep going, that I could still manage. So it struck me:
“The body can tell us things we haven't noticed ourselves.”
I still remember that feeling.
After leaving my job, I took a year off to rest. I met people, moved my body, and did things I enjoyed. As I spent more time taking it slow, my body gradually recovered.
Through this experience, I felt for myself how the body slowly regains its energy.
By the time I left my job, I had already decided to pursue acupuncture and anma-massage-shiatsu.
I had thought about finding my way of offering value by trying many different jobs, but
“Rather than working 100 different jobs, I want to support the health of people who work in 100 different jobs.”
To learn a skill, and through it, to be involved in the health of each person, whatever work they do.
I thought that might be the next way I could offer value.
When you're healthy, you can keep working, see the people you want to see, and do the things you love. I believe good health is the foundation for living each day.
I wanted to make a living with my own skills. I wanted to work more directly with people than in my previous job, and offer value that way.
And above all, it seemed interesting.
That's why I chose this work.
The name “癒巡-Yuru-”
I put several wishes into the name “癒巡-ゆる-” (Yuru). In Japanese, “yuru” suggests something loose, gentle and unhurried.
I want you to spend a slow, relaxed time here. I want this to be a place where your body and mind can loosen up.
And I also want to work in a relaxed way myself, without forcing things.
The name also carries the meaning of healing (癒, “yu”) that circulates (巡る, “ru”).
While studying acupuncture and Eastern medicine, I came to value things that keep flowing and circulating.
There are busy times and restful times. There is everyday work, time at home, and time spent with others. I think we live our days moving back and forth between these times.
What I value at Yuru
I hope that not only the treatment itself, but the whole time you spend here, feels calm and peaceful.
A bright room, a spacious setting, quiet music, a soft treatment bed and towels.
I hope every second you spend here is a peaceful one.
As a practitioner
Wanting to learn about the body, I spent three years at a vocational school studying acupuncture, moxibustion and anma-massage-shiatsu.
I hold the Japanese national licenses for acupuncture, moxibustion and anma-massage-shiatsu. Since graduating, I have continued to learn: relaxation techniques at a salon in Osaka, and acupuncture at a clinic in Nara.
Learning about the body has shown me that it can't be understood through a single answer.
At Yuru, I currently focus mainly on massage and reflexology.
By the way, I love theater 🙋♂️
The time I hope to offer at Yuru
I hope the time you spend at Yuru doesn't end there, but stays with you a little in your everyday life afterward.
Your body feels a little lighter.
Your mind loosens a little.
You can take a breath and relax.
You can face tomorrow with a little more energy.
I'd be happy if small changes like these could come into your everyday life.
Relaxation and calm
for your daily life
That is the time I hope to offer at Yuru.
